This was originally a comment to a different post, but it ended up being so long that I couldn't post it as a comment, so I'm trying to post it as a standalone post instead. Here are some basic things that I would say are fairly easy for a beginner, and will might give a big return. Users who post in this subreddit solely to promote someone's content are not welcome and might be banned in case of repeated violations.
While were a game about exploring the world, world politics come with a lot of opinions and heated arguments. If you would like to share your gameplay video, there is a channel dedicated to that on our Discord server. All movie companies should hire Geoguessr players for fact-checking purposes. On page load you’ll see the daily hand-selected location. Some of you may have seen this same post here a month ago, but it got downvoted to 0 (at one point it was up to 15, then it just dropped for some reason). #5 – Keep an eye on the compassMore of a general trick is to keep in mind which direction geographical features are.
I made a game like GeoGuessr, except free and unlimited
Not every country on earth is covered by Google Streetview, and therefore a possible location on Geoguessr. There are some locations which are small in area and have an iconic look, but are seemingly over represented in the game, so it's a good strategy to have those dialed in for a good point yield. While we are good at finding those random locations in the world, please do not post random location images asking where they are. When the game first loads you’ll be looking at the hand picked daily location. Best part is since you’ve already instantiated the maps for the daily game, it costs nothing extra. Locations are generated and you’re able to filter the type of locations you want to see.
Instead, start with easy things. It's easy to go onto Geohints and think, oh boy, I have to learn this long list of things as homework. Start with what's easy to recognize and rewarding. Start with fun and easy metas. Learn strategies for recognizing a language without learning the language. Each country/region has its own standard, which you can use to localize, even though license plates are blurred.
This isn't perfect science and it'll often still be wrong, but it's better than to guess blindly. In the west of Russia you'll find more European car brands such as VW, Skoda, Peugeot. #3 – Brazilian roadsThough it is quite rare to spot these highway markers, they're a gem when it comes to region guessing in Brazil. #2 – Nigerian cop carFor some reason the Google Streetview car is being followed by police throughout the entire country. The location isn't always accurate, so don't trust it blindly when it doesn't add up. #8 – Study your opponents"How the hell did he guess the right town when I wasn't even near? RAAHHH!!" That's you.
What are your top tips for a new player?
To use this trick, make sure your compass is enabled. Because of this, in the southern hemisphere the sun will be in the north and vice versa. The earth rotates along an axis between the poles, meaning the sun will be straight above the equator. In these cases we can take advantage of the position of the sun. Nearly every year a few more countries and regions are added. Keep in mind however that Google is constantly working on expanding its coverage.

- However, it is not a unique issue and should not be posted on the sub.

- Look straight into the sun and take a look at your compass; does it point to the south?

- #6 – Infrastructure & cultureOne of the biggest helps in making a good guess is the infrastructure.
Those countries/regions haven't allowed Google to map their streets and roads. Some big ones are mainland China, Kazakhstan, most of Africa, most of the Middle East, easier to memorize the few countries that do have coverage in those regions. If there's no Google coverage, no point in guessing there.

- After that you can play unlimited, except curating a list of locations is very time consuming.
- Also useful to compare words and place names to place names on the map for similarities.
Common Resources
My recommendation is not to study them, but to take a mental note when something stands out to you in a game. The more general things like right- or left-hand traffic are probably the most important to know. Small distinct features are typically one of the reasons pros know their countries so well. #6 – Infrastructure & cultureOne of the biggest helps in making a good guess is the infrastructure. Comparing this to the writing you found in game can be a huge help.
Australia, India, most of South East Asia are left side driving, with the exception of Taiwan, South Korea, The Philippines, Cambodia, and Laos. All of the Americas (as far as you'll see in the game anyway) are right side driving. Which side of the road countries drive on. Where countries are located, flags, capitals and some of the other biggest cities, domain names. Look up where there's no Google coverage.
Hi, my dad and I are very new to the game but would love to play together/against each other. I hope these tricks can be useful to you in becoming a better Geoguessr. Before making a guess it's worth taking a second to check your surroundings and their direction and compare it to the map. Very few players have mastered region guessing luckygem casino bonus here. #1 – American trucksAmerican and Canadian trucks will often have their location of origin displayed somewhere on the door. Instead of throwing you pc out of the window, take a look at his process using the 'watch replay' feature after a game has ended.
What are all of the countries not on Geoguessr?
Also useful for cross referencing the shape, color and number format of road/highway signs if you're trying to decide between two or a few countries. Also useful to compare words and place names to place names on the map for similarities. Using external resources are generally considered cheating, at least in competitive play.
